Initial rankings are based on seniority: first come, first served! Newcomers join at the bottom of the ladder.
You may challenge anyone that you feel would be a good match; time and place are arranged between the 2 sides.
- A good rule of thumb is to challenge someone within 5 positions of your ranking.
- The optional skill level of a player may serve as a guide in choosing your opponent.
- Remember to identify yourself when challenging a player; your opponent may not know your name in a text or email message.
Only 1 side (usually the winner) should report the result, preferably within 24 hours.
After a match is reported:
- If the winner had a higher rank, there is no change.
- If the winner had a lower rank, the winner takes over the higher rank.
- The loser and all others below move down one rank, until the old rank of the winner is reached.
- Calculations are based on the ranks of the two sides when the match is recorded, not those at the time the challenge was made.
You are encouraged to play often!
- The only way to move up the ladder is to win matches.
- You may move down the ladder if players below you move up.
- There is no penalty for losing to a higher-ranked player.
